What you'll do
Guests will meet the goats and alpacas inside the pasture. They will learn about the personalities and care of different animals. Feeding, petting, and photography are encouraged (do note, the alpacas are more stand offish than the goats who welcome attention). After interacting with goats and alpacas, guests will be oriented to trails and the property. The trails weave through 16 acres and are mostly moderately sloped (with a couple steep sections). The guests' independent hike includes the opportunity to enjoy a pastoral mountain view including Mt Pisgah from our lookout deck, hammocks in the woods, and a slack line. Guests are welcome to bring a picnic or drinks as there are a couple different picnic areas.
If you don't see a tour time that works, reach out - we may be able to work with you!
Other things to note: Please wear appropriate clothing (including closed toed shoes/ hiking boots). Goats may jump on you if you feed them. There is no bathroom available.
If there are storms, rain, or the temperature is 32 or below, and/or inclement weather, cancellation or reschedule may occur for safety/comfort of animals and guests.
Host, Kristalyn:
Over the past 14 years, I've been homesteading with Nigerian Dwarf goats, Huayaca, and Suri alpacas. With more than 10 years of Airbnb Superhosting, I've enjoyed sharing the antics and presence of my precious and precocious herbivores.
Where you’ll be:
You'll hang with the herbivores in their pasture. Then you will hike though the woods with moss covered trails and enjoy pastoral and mountain view. Red bellied and downy woodpeckers, chickadees, goldfinches, hawks, and other birds may be sighted. Neighboring cows may greet you with their sounds and turkey and deer tracks may surprise you. We're 35 minutes from downtown Asheville.
